According to my googling, the term was coined by film critic Nathan Rabin after observing Kirsten Dunst’s character in Elizabethtown. He defines the troupe as a female character who “exists solely in the fevered imaginations of sensitive writer-directors to teach broodingly soulful young men to embrace life and its infinite mysteries and adventures.” This definitely does describe Kate Hudson’s character in Almost Famous. But according to the Wiki, this does not include Kate Winslet’s character in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind specifically for the line Austin mentioned. That seems incredibly subjective though…

A French composer who has been composing for film since the mid 1980s. His filmography is extensive with 191 composer credits. He has scored many acclaimed films. In his career he has been nominated for 11 Oscars winning twice for original score for The Shape of Water in 2018 and for The Grand Budapest Hotel in 2015 where he competed against himself in the category where he was also nominated for The Imitation Game.
